Childbirth Class in Austin and Surrounding areas.

This four-hour childbirth class, facilitated by our expert teacher, Parris, and is conducted in the comfort of your own home. This class is informative and concise, focusing on how to give birth rather than the science of how birth happens. You will learn how to breath and move for childbirth as well as what to expect and how to identify each stage of labor. You and Parris will talk about the “Goldilocks time” for an epidural and gain an understanding of how this pain management tool works. You will also learn rituals and methods of riding the waves of labor without pain medication allowing you to make informed, empowered decisions for yourself during labor. During the class you and your partner will learn what to expect and gain “pro tips” for managing labor smoothly and gain tools that will help you navigate your labor if unexpected circumstances arise. This data driven, evidence based class will give you a comprehensive understanding of what to expect during childbirth and how your partner can be your most vital support.

Parris, a birth doula and mother of five, created this childbirth class based on years of attending births and witnessing firsthand what parents need to know before delivery day. What sets her class apart is its focus on helping you identify and comprehend the stages of labor and understand how to manage best through each.

Parris provides insights into primary newborn care and breastfeeding. She offers valuable tips to prepare for the "fourth trimester." In this way, she can help you make a smooth transition into parenthood.

Her curriculum covers a spectrum of essential topics, including how to properly use an epidural, how to breathe and use positioning for each stage of labor, preparing for the unexpected, and how to ready yourself and your home for labor and your hospital stay. Unlike the hospital birth class, which focuses heavily on the science of how birth happens, what to expect from the hospital and how to use their facilities, this class focuses on teaching you how to give birth and how your loved one can support you best during labor and immediately postpartum.

This comprehensive class typically takes three to four hours and is conducted in the comfort of your own home.

At Circle Birth, our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and confidence you need for a positive childbirth experience.

The difference between childbirth classes offered in Austin

Parris offers Austin childbirth classes that provide a truly private, personalized experience, different from the typical group classes in hospitals. Her approach focuses on teaching you how to give birth with practical, real-life techniques, ensuring you feel confident and prepared. In these one-on-one sessions, Parris encourages open discussions about your birth history and preferences. Unlike hospital classes that emphasize medical aspects, Parris prioritizes pain management and partner involvement. She draws from Birthing From Within, the Bradley Method, and Lamaze to deliver a comprehensive, evidence-based experience tailored to your needs.

What Austin Families Learn in Our Childbirth Class

Our four-hour private class is designed to give you practical, real-world birth preparation - not just textbook theory. Parris draws on years of hands-on doula experience attending births at Austin-area hospitals to teach you what actually matters when labor begins.

Topics covered include how to recognize early labor and when to head to the hospital, breathing and movement techniques for each stage of labor, how epidurals work and the best timing for requesting one, positions and comfort measures that support labor progress, what to expect during pushing and delivery, how your birth partner can actively support you, and preparing your home and hospital bag for the big day.

Every class is tailored to your specific birth plan, questions, and concerns. Whether you are planning a medicated hospital birth, exploring natural pain management options, or preparing for a cesarean, Parris adjusts the curriculum to match your goals. Families in Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, and surrounding communities can schedule in-home sessions or connect virtually.

  • Most families schedule their childbirth class between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. This timing allows you to absorb and practice what you learn before your due date while the information is still fresh. However, we welcome families at any stage - whether you are in your first trimester and want to plan ahead or approaching your due date and looking for a focused refresher. • Each approach offers a different philosophy for managing labor. Hypnobirthing focuses on deep relaxation, breathing patterns, and visualization to reduce fear and tension during birth. The Bradley Method emphasizes partner involvement, nutrition, and natural labor techniques with minimal intervention. Lamaze teaches a variety of coping strategies - including breathing, movement, and positioning - and encourages informed decision-making regardless of your birth plan. Our class draws from all three methods, giving you a well-rounded toolkit rather than locking you into a single approach. Each approach offers a different philosophy for managing labor. • Yes. Our private online childbirth classes are conducted via Zoom and cover the same comprehensive curriculum as our in-person sessions. Virtual classes are an ideal option for families with busy schedules, traveling partners, or those who prefer learning from the comfort of home. Many Austin-area couples choose the virtual format for its flexibility while still receiving personalized, one-on-one instruction from Parris.

  • Absolutely - and we strongly encourage it. Birth partners play a critical role during labor, and our class teaches specific techniques your partner can use to support you through each stage. From counter-pressure and hip squeezes to emotional encouragement and advocacy, your partner will leave the class feeling confident and prepared rather than anxious about what to expect.

Payment & Insurance

We accept HSA/FSA cards, major credit and debit cards, and common digital payment methods.

Some families choose to seek reimbursement for doula services through insurance or employer-sponsored family benefit programs. Eligibility and reimbursement depend entirely on the specific plan and employer.

Families we support have explored reimbursement through programs such as Maven, Carrot, Progyny, and similar employer-sponsored or insurance-based plans. We do not bill insurance or benefit programs directly. We provide clear, non-clinical service documentation to support reimbursement requests when applicable.

Examples of employer-sponsored benefit programs and insurance providers families may explore for reimbursement.
